Skelton secures first win!
The third event of the Golf Days UK Essex Tour 2013 – The Race to Celtic Manor was hosted by Ballards Gore Golf Club on Friday 5th April. A small field took to the course in very cold and windy conditions, making scoring tricky for all! Jason Skelton, playing in his third event of the year took the honours with a score of 30 points off his ¾ handicap of 11.
Four players returned 29 points on the day, Steven Pollock, Kamal Lakhani, Richard Foster and Chris Foster. The countback system was used to determine the places. Kamal Lakhani and Chris Foster both recorded 17 points on the back nine and with 13 points over the last six holes, Lakhani secured the second spot. Nearest the pins were won by Nigel Goude on the first, being the only player to hit the green, with all players coming up short into a strong headwind. Kamal Lakhani took the honours on the 14th with an excellent shot into a tough green.
Skelton chose a pair of Adidas Samba golf shoes, Lakhani picked up a dozen TaylorMade RocketBallz golf balls and Foster walked away with a Cobra winter hat.
After three events Kamal Lakhani leads the order of merit with Ballards Gore winner Jason Skelton jumping up to second position.
The next event on the tour is the first Major of the season at Romford Golf Club on Friday 26th April. There are more order of merit points available at the Majors and along with GameBook live scoring, the first Major of the season is set to be a cracker!
