Mackie Makes Top Spot At Lingfield Park!
The second event of the Golf Days UK Surrey Tour 2013 – The Race to Stoke Park was hosted by Marriott Lingfield Park on a particularly cold and windy April afternoon. Due to snow closing the course in March, this was the rescheduled event and a small field took part to compete for Order or Merit Points and some excellent prizes.
Duncan Mackie, playing in his second event of the year returned a score of 33 points to take the spoils from The Drift winner, Kevin Wellings who posted a respectable 31 points to secure the runner up spot. Wellings took to the fairways in his new Loudmouth Golf Trousers and should he have won the event, he would have earned a bonus prize of £150 spend with Loudmouth UK.
Third spot was taken by tour newcomer Wayne Thornton who beat Dave Sclater on countback. Sclater also just missed out on a nearest the pin prize on the 6th hole when Justin King played a superb shot to take the honours. Geoff Brooker took the second nearest the pin on the 14th. Kevin Wellings now leads the Order of Merit after recording a win and second place finish at the first two events. A close chasing pack of players follows and there will be many changes along the way.
A players ‘best five’ OoM points will make up the final leaderboard with the OoM winner receiving a set of custom fit irons from tour sponsor Chris Potter Golf there is a long way to go and plenty to play for! The top fifteen in the leaderboard after the last event will all qualify to play in the Grand Final at Kingswood Golf Club to compete for the coveted title of Surrey Tour Champion 2013 and they will win a trip to the world famous Stoke Park Country Club in Buckinghamshire.
