Johnson joins the race with an impressive debut at the South Essex Golf Club
The third event of the Golf Days UK Essex Tour – The Race to Stoke Park was won by newcomer Brian Johnson with a score of 38 points playing off a ¾ handicap of 5.
The dark skies loomed overhead but players spent the majority of the round in good scoring conditions. The South Essex Golf Club hosted the event and everyone enjoyed the course and the challenges it posed. Richard Anderson put together a solid round and was runner up on the day with 37 points.
Dave Parry, who missed out on third in the last event by countback, experienced the other side this time, by taking the third spot on countback from Craig Warren. Craig, however, had the consolation of a big drive down the par 5 11th hole with his 275 yard tee shot winning him the longest drive award. The nearest the pin title was taken by Three Rivers member Tony West with his shot on the par 3, 4th hole.
Following the results at the South Essex Golf Club, its all change at the top in the overall leaderboard as previous leader Kamal Lakhani drops to third place on 93 points. Nigel Goude moves into second place on 94 points and following his 34 points Craig Warren takes the lead on the tour with 95 points after 3 events.
With the best five rounds counting players are looking to compete in as many events as they can to give themselves the best chance of winning the trip to Stoke Park or the runner up prize of a set of custom fit irons.
