Goude’s two eagles take him soaring to the top of leaderboard
The fourth event of Golf Days UK Race to Turnberry was played at Royal Norwich golf course which was in peak condition and with the sun beating down, players enjoyed an excellent afternoon’s golf. No one enjoyed it more than regular Kevin Goude who after being cut to +2 from his Essex Tour performance still amassed 36 points, which included eagles on the 7th and 10th holes. This was enough to take the event as many of the players found the lightening quick greens tough to post a high score. Second place was awarded to Nick Barrett with 33 points who took it on countback from third place Adam Saunders also on 33.
Nearest the pin was claimed by Adam Saunders with his shot to the tree lined Par 3, 9th hole. There were many impressive drives down the Par 5 17th hole but it was Nick Barrett that managed to hold the fairway to claim longest drive with his 299 yard effort.
With the two tour leaders unavailable for the Royal Norwich event the remainder of the field were poised to make a charge. Kevin Goude and Nick Barrett took that opportunity and now share a tie of the lead with 135 points each after four events. Adam Saunders moves into third place with 127 points. The best five scores over the year will claim the Norfolk Tour title and win the trip to the world famous Turnberry Resort and with six events to go, it’s still wide open.
The next opportunity to get a score on the board in the Race to Turnberry is Sunday 24th June at Heacham Manor with tee times from 11am.
