Sclater secures his first win at The Surrey National
The seventh event on the Golf Days UK Surrey Tour took it to The Surrey National on a glorious sunny July afternoon. After winning his first 3 events on the tour all eyes were on Kevin Thomas as he aimed for a fourth successive victory. Having his handicap cut twice from his previous results did enough to slow him down as he scored 30 points and came 8th.
Third place on the day went to Graham Taylor with 33 points playing off his ¾ handicap of 5. With the same points as Graham but taking second place on countback was tour regular Kamal Lakhani. Playing in his 7th event on the tour and with two 3rd place finishes and a 2nd it was Dave Sclater that managed his first victory with 36 points off his ¾ handicap of 11. The nearest the pin prize went to Peter Boylan.
After seven events Dave Sclater takes the lead on the overall order of merit edging past rival Kevin Wellings who failed to improve on his best 5 results. Dave sits at the top with 494 points, Kevin Wellings in second on 486 and Kamal Lakhani in third on 468 points. With a few players ready to complete their fifth event the leaderboard there is still a lot that could happen at the top.
