Reid on the Rampage at Weston Park!
Weston Park was the host venue to the second event of the 2013 Norfolk Tour – Play your way to Gleneagles. A good field of 41 players took to the fairways on a freezing cold March day and with a strong Easterly wind blowing the scoring was tough going for many. Despite the recent rain and snow the course was playing very well and the speed of the greens were catching many players out.
Playing in his second event on the Norfolk Tour, Nigel Reid, 22 handicap, returned an excellent 33 points to take the win on countback from tour regular Cain Esherwood. Third place went to 2012 Norfolk Tour winner Dean Ashton who beat James Hart on countback. The two nearest the pins were won by Cain Esherwood on the 2nd hole and Nick Barrett on 5th hole.
Reid chose a pair of the new Adidas Samba Golf Shoes and also wins himself a £75 voucher to spend at Loudmouth Golf.
With the new format for 2013, every point on the day matters as the place a player finishes equates to Order of Merit Points received. Cain Esherwood now tops the leaderboard with two second place finishes and Weston winner Nigel Reid jumps up 6th spot after banking 100 OoM points. All order of merit points earned on the day can be viewed at Weston Park Results. With a players ‘best five’ OoM scores counting towards the final leaderboard, there is still a long way to go and we will see many changes along the way. The top fifteen in the leaderboard
at the end of the tour all bag themselves a place at the 2013 Norfolk Tour Grand Final at the prestigious Sheringham Golf Club. The winner of the Grand Final will be crowned Norfolk Tour Champion 2013 and will win a trip to the 2014 Ryder Cup hosts, The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland.
The third event on the Golf Days UK Norfolk Tour 2013 is on the 19th April at Marriott Sprowston Manor Golf Club. You can sign up online at Norfolk Tour 2013
